Winter Break

Oh...it was so nice to be off for the week. We were able to hit the beach on Monday before the rain came the next day. We had friends over on Tuesday and Thursday we went to Felton to see Sammie and Josie and their beautiful new house. Friday I had a Dr. appt and all is well with baby...growing and moving like a champ. Of course, everyone asks if we have a feeling one way or another about the sex of the baby. The answer is no. I have had 2 boy dreams and 2 girl dreams. Most people are guessing boy at this point. Haley is still voting for a sister. She has been telling people (even strangers) that she has a baby coming and she is still asking every day if the baby will come out now.
We got to have Jack and Sam and familes over for dinner on Friday night. They are both getting so big and hitting little milestones. Both KC and Kim look wonderful motherhood suits them both.
So, it's 7 weeks until spring break...but who's counting?

Questions

Yesterday morning...
"Mom, is it wake up time?"
"Yep."
"Is it my birthday today?"
"Nope, it was yesterday. Your birthday is all over."
"Can't we have my birthday again?"

Today running errands...
"Hey, is the baby coming out today?"
"No, not today, but a few more months."
"What kind of baby are we going to have?"
" I don't know. It's going to be a surprise."
"Can we have a boy baby?" (This is inconsistent with her recent sister requests).
"Well, we'll have to wait and see."
"Can we have that baby right there?" (pointing to a beautiful GAP baby on a poster).
The girl has good taste. :)

February 15, 2005

Three years ago we were 1/2 way through my labor (11 hours down with 11 hours to go). I didn't get my epidural for another 3 hours, but I wasn't in much pain. I will never forget that day. I know that Haley's birthday is tomorrow, but today is the day that I live over each year.
Life is good. I am so excited that we will be adding one more soul into our family. I cannot believe Haley has been in our lives for 3 years. She is so excited to be a big sister. She is voting for a little sister of her own.
It is times like these that we are reminded of how blessed we are to have such a supportive family and group of friends.
The good times just keep rolling (just not as late into the night as they used to).

Birthday Weekend

We started off the weekend celebrating Cate's 1st birthday. She looked so happy with her family and pals and, of course, first bites of cake. A very fun celebration.
Next day was Haley's birthday party. It was so fun to have all the kids over. Haley loved it and so did we!
She thinks her birthday is over even though the real deal is this Saturday. We will celebrate with family.
Haley is getting ready for baby number 2. She talks to my tummy daily and will give the baby check ups with her Dr. kit. She assures us that the baby is not crying and that all is ok. There is a picture of her giving little Jack a check up. Also a pic of her and her pal Dominick. Dominick's mom and I go WAY back!

The baby is as long and as heavy as a football.

Wide Awake and Ready to Play

This happens every 6 months or so. Haley wakes up at an early hour (4:00 this moring) and calls out like it is time to get up. I went in to tell her it was still night time. She said "Mommy, look at me!" and made a silly face. By 5:30, and Josh lying with her in her bed, she was back to sleep. Josh and I are tired today. Maybe a bit of retraining before the new baby comes and we are down to a couple of hours a night? Who knows? She's crazy. Can't believe she is almost 3.

Russell life is good in general. Busy with events, family, and friends...all great! New baby woke me up the other night for about 20 minutes just moving around. I love it. Josh is bummed because he still can't feel from the outside. The other day he was talking to my belly and said "come on, just a little kick for Daddy." I put my hand on the other side and he thought it was a movement...oops! Sorry! Soon enough, soon enough.

Weekend in Sonoma

Had a wonderful weekend in Sonoma with the Carlson family. It took us 5 and 1/2 hours to get up there Friday night. We were literally the last car they let through before closing 101 behind us. Crazy flooding everywhere. Saturday didn't rain a drop which was great. The girls were able to play outside, on the playground, and around town. It was a very fun time. We missed the Haines family this year, but look forward to next year where the kid count will go up to 6...crazy!!!
