Our vacation was wonderful. As much as we missed the kids, we had a fabulous time, always to be remembered.
Got in on Sunday and enjoyed Mai Tais on the sand with Torrey and Mutsuko. After that a swim in the ocean and nice steak dinner. Next day we had to ourselves and we made the most of it. We hung out at the beach, went on a snorkel excursion, had lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise, shopped, had cocktails and played cards ocean side for over an hour (this is when we really felt the no kid thing. We were able to sit and talk and take our time through a meal), and went for dinner at a bar and grill on the water.
Day 3: wedding day! We went out to the other side of the island where Torrey and Mutsuko had a beautiful ceremony on the sand. Josh practiced the Japanese that Torrey and Mutsuko had taught him (minus the dirty words) and they all thought he was a riot. The day was perfect. After the ceremony we headed back and ended the day with one of the best meals I have ever had. It was 5 courses with a wine pairing at every course. I can't remember the last time I was that full, but it was divine.
It's funny because Mutsuko's family only speaks Japanese and we only speak English. With the help of Torrey and Mutsuko we were able to have conservations with the family throughout all of dinner. It's so awesome that even with the language barrier, we all understood each other and the feeling was pure happiness. Such a joyous occasion. We were honored to be a part of it.
Then, it was time to come home. We had a wonderful get away together for such a special reason. We soaked in our time alone and raced upstairs the minute we got home, to see our sleeping kiddos. Thanks Grandparents!!!! We are so grateful that you took the kids. You deserve a restful weekend.
It was bliss...all of it.
