There are things we do to show our gratitude for what we have. There are things we do to show compassion for others in the world. There are things we do as acts of kindness.
These are the things that are an incredible value in our family.
Every time we cross a bridge we pay the toll for the car behind us.
We have ziplock bags in the car, each with a toothbrush, water, gum, $1, peanuts, and deodorant that we give to people that are asking for money on the street corners.
Each year at the holidays it is SO IMPORTANT that we give to others less fortunate. Yesterday Josh had the kids pack up toys and books from their rooms and bring them into a family shelter in San Jose. They all went together. The kids saw the rooms people live in, the kitchen, the bathrooms, etc. It was explained to them that them giving their things away will allow children to open a gift on Christmas morning.
These experiences are amazing reminders of how blessed we are. It feeds the soul to help others this way.
I am so grateful.
