Time is a Gift

Summer fun! We are starting off the summer right.

Time is such a gift. I am soaking it up with the kids on my time off. We've been doing lots of fun things. What a difference a year makes! Ryan is right in the mix this year. Leaving for camping tomorrow. I know Josh doesn't like it, but I LOVE it and can't wait! Thanks for going every year Josh! :)

The New KIT

Remember writing KIT (keep in touch) in people's yearbooks? This year I opened a book to sign and saw HAGS all over it. Have a great summer. See? Kids are just the same as we were. :)
Happy Summer!

Finding My Zen

The other night I saw "Sex and the City." There was a certain scene that totally struck a cord and I have been thinking about it since. At 33 I feel more in my skin than I ever have. I have everything that is important to me. I define myself in so many ways. I am not solely a mother or wife or teacher or friend or auntie or sister or daughter. I am ALL of them and it makes me feel balanced. Being a mom is the most important job I have and I am glad that it is surrounded by all the other things that are me. I wouldn't be very good at anything if I didn't have all the other aspects. Of course there are many parts of me I would like to improve, but those are not my main focus anymore. See? I am maturing! Who would have thought?!
I hope that I can always find balance in my life. It's the only way to live! And life just keeps getting better.

Me and My Shadow

Miss Haley joined me at school yesterday. She always asks to come and meet my students and yesterday was the perfect day as we were going on a field trip to the movies. The day was a crack up. She marched right in and sat at a student desk (the student laughed and sat somewhere else. She pulled out her Leapster and coloring book and got right to work like the other students. She was fielding questions and when I would get the students' attention she would stop what she was doing and pay attention as well. In PE she ran/walked the mile with the students. On the bus she wanted to sit with "the girls" and not with me...both there and back. During the movie she wanted to sit with the girls, but she was with me. When we got back she signed a couple of yearbooks, yes, the students asked her to and the day was done. We both loved the day and she was a bit pooped. "Mom, your students don't have a rest time?" I WISH! Will post a picture soon.

2023

Yes, this is the year Haley will be graduating from high school. This was how we were welcomed at kinder orientation, "Welcome class of 2023!" And yes, tears filled my eyes.

I Really Could Write a Book

I have always laughed that teachers could write books about the job. The book I envision writing is just a collection of tales that are completely entertaining. It would appeal to any reader. I have so many stories about students, parents, and fellow staff members. Any time something noteworthy happens I think, "that would be a story for my book."

There is a student in one of my classes who is less than motivated and thinks of any excuse in the book. She has been gone for 2 days on our music department's trip to Disneyland. Everyone came back yesterday except for her. Today, when I asked where she was yesterday, she said that she had to stay home because she was still motion sick from the Tower of Terror. Yes, she missed a day of school from going on a ride 2 days earlier. She sure played her heart out in P.E. today. CURED!!! My teacher partner and I had a good laugh.
